ViewPoint House

Viewpoint House is 3 kilometers from the centre of Availles Limouzine village, walkable within 20 minutes, or a 3 minute drive.
The village itself is one of the best in the Vienne for shopping and other facilities, comprising a Tourist information centre, a bar, a hotel and bar, a small restaurant, a bank, an infant school, a garage, an estate agent, a florist, two bakers, a butcher, a pizza and kebab shop, a chemist, a grocery store, a newsagent, a hairdresser and a library.
The town of Confolens is a 10 minute drive away, with lots of history, such as the ruins of the Chateau at St. Germains de Confolens. There is an international music festival in August which pulls in thousands of visitors. There are plenty of small shops and restaurants overlooking the river, with 4 larger supermarkets just on the outskirts of the village itself.

 
Going in the other direction, L'Isle Jourdain is also a 10 minute drive, passing the Val de Vienne Race Circuit on the way.  It has an amazing viaduct, which in the summer months it is possible to bungee jump from! There is a large local and live produce market every 20th of the month in the streets, and there is a sailing club close by where you can have a go on the canoes, kayaks, or even water skiing.
Poitiers and Limoges are both just under an hours drive away, both steeped in history with fantastic historical buildings, and of course plenty of shopping.
